چکیده
Demand from consumers for small quantities of live swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus is rising with the development e-commerce. However, it challenging to keep P. alive post-capture. In this study, a transport bag containing oxygen and seawater (24 ppt) was used investigate survival metabolic changes during transport. The results showed that more than 80% could survive at least 24 h in bag. ability crabs may be attributed adaptive metabolism, as suggested by switch an aerobic anaerobic pathway energy generation decline amino acid nucleic osmoregulation. Our findings suggest effectively extend post-capture time . Metabolic adaptation – especially homeostasis crucial study provides promising method

Molecular cloning and characterization of prophenoloxidase gene in swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus.
Phenoloxidase (PO), a melanin-synthesizing enzyme, found as a zymogen (proPO) in hemolymp, plays an important role in arthropod defence. In this study, a prophenoloxidase (proPO) cDNA was cloned from the haemocytes of swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus by a reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and rapid amplification of cDNA end (RACE) method. Analysis of the nucleotide ...

The swimming crab, Portunus trituberculatus, is an important marine animal and is widely cultured in China. In the present study, suppression subtractive hybridization was applied to identify the differentially expressed genes in the ovaries of mature and immature P. trituberculatus. One hundred and seventy six expressed sequence tag (ESTs) were identified, of which 100 were down-regulated, and...

BACKGROUND The swimming crab, Portunus trituberculatus, which is naturally distributed in the coastal waters of Asia-Pacific countries, is an important farmed species in China. Salinity is one of the most important abiotic factors that influence not only the distribution and abundance of crustaceans, it is also an important factor for artificial propagation of the crab. To better understand the...

A reproductive biology study of blue swimming crab, Portunus segnis (Forskal, 1775) in the northern Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, was conducted from May 2010 to October 2011. The results showed that the annual sex ratio is not M: F=1:1, with 51.9 % female. All the five stages of ovarian development of P. segnis were observed throughout the year. The size of ovigerous crabs varied from 103 to 155...
